Painting and Wallcovering

D. Zelinsky & Sons, Inc. has played a major role in painting and decorating many of the major construction projects in the San Francisco Bay Area and the nation for over a century.

We painted historic structure such as Oakland City Hall in 1908, The San Francisco City Hall in 1914, The Union Pacific Club in 1915, The U. S. Mint, San Francisco 1937, and in Washington D.C we painted the Department of the Interior in 1936, the Bureau of Engraving in 1938 and the Library of Congress in 1939. Back in San Francisco we painted the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island in 1939. In 1998 we did a complete and major restoration of the historic, but crumbling Fairmont New Orleans Hotel, originally built in 1883.

Today, the firm has grown to a multi-million dollar corporation with major commercial and industrial painting contracts, painting the BART System, Bank of America World Headquarters, San Francisco and San Jose Fairmont Hotels, Sutro Tower, Candlestick Park, St. Francis Hotel, De Young Museum, San Francisco City Hall, Kaiser World Headquarters, and the Claremont Hotel in Oakland as well as IBM in San Jose. D. Zelinsky & Sons has also painted many of the Bay Area’s finest hotels, clubs, homes and estates. The scope of our work has run the gamut from general painting to specialty coatings, to fine faux wood grains and marbleizing, to the installation of fine wall coverings, upholstered walls and ceilings in some of the finest buildings and homes in the Bay Area.
